Privacy notice
Last updated 22 September 2026
This notice explains what personal information Finance People collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It applies to candidates, clients, and anyone who visits this website or receives an email from us.
Who we are
Finance People is a trading name of Refreshing Group Ltd, which is the data controller for the information described here. Refreshing Group Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 04733386, with its registered office at Unit 8, Crane Mews, 32 Gould Road, Twickenham, TW2 6RS. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number 00011574122.
We work in partnership with Matter Talent, who introduce clients and candidates to us. The section on sharing below explains what this means for your information.
For anything to do with your data, write to charlie@financepeople.com or call 020 8894 2130.
What we collect, and from where
If you are a candidate
Your name, contact details, employment history, qualifications, day rate or salary expectations, availability, notice period, and anything else you choose to put in a CV or tell us in conversation. If you work through your own limited company, we may hold that company's details. Where a role progresses, we may also hold interview notes, references, evidence of your right to work in the UK, and the details needed to arrange payment for your work.
Most of this comes from you directly. Some comes from public professional profiles such as LinkedIn, from job boards, from Matter Talent, or from someone who has referred you. If we approached you first, we will tell you where we found you if you ask.
If you are a client
Your name, job title, employer, and business contact details, along with notes on roles you are hiring for and our correspondence with you.
If you visit this website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. Its fonts are built into the site, so your browser does not contact any third party to load them. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and reliability purposes. The registration form does not send your details anywhere itself: it opens an email in your own email app, which you then choose whether to send.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To match candidates to roles and run a recruitment process. Legitimate interests, and where relevant the performance of a contract. Recruitment cannot function without holding candidate and client information, and we hold no more than the work requires.
- To contact you about opportunities or about hiring. Legitimate interests for business contacts at companies, and consent where you are a sole trader or an individual. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and we act on it.
- To meet legal obligations, including right-to-work checks, the records recruitment businesses are required to keep, and tax and accounting records. Legal obligation.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
Special category data
We do not seek information about health, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or similar. If you volunteer it - for example a reasonable adjustment needed for an interview - we will use it only for that purpose, with your explicit consent, and will not pass it on without asking you first.
Who we share it with
Candidate information is shared with a client only where you have agreed to be put forward for a specific role, and only what is relevant to that role.
We share candidate and client information with Matter Talent where they introduced you to us or are working with us on a role, for the purpose of making and managing placements.
Where a funding company is used to pay contractors, we share the details needed to pay you, such as your name, company details, rate and timesheets.
Beyond that, we share data with the suppliers who run our systems: email and file storage, our applicant tracking and CRM tools, and our email marketing provider. Each is bound by contract to process data only on our instructions.
Some of these suppliers are based outside the UK. Where that is the case, transfers are made under the UK addendum to the standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
Candidate records are kept for two years from our last meaningful contact with you, after which they are deleted unless you ask us to keep them for longer. Where you have been placed through us, the records needed for accounting and tax are kept for six years. Client records are kept for the duration of the relationship and for six years afterwards, to meet accounting and contractual requirements.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or send it to another organisation. You can object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests, and you can withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis we rely on.
Ask by emailing charlie@financepeople.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first, so we have a chance to put it right.
Changes
We update this notice when our practices change. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
